< ALMA 18 >
v. 5 Not this was the tradition of Lamoni, which he had received from his father, that there was a Great Spirit. Notwithstanding they believed in a Great Spirit, they supposed that whatsoever they did was right; nevertheless, Lamoni began to fear exceedingly, with fear lest he had done wrong in slaying his servants.
Korihor
Korihor (in Alma 30) will argue that there was no sin, people coud do what they wanted, guilt is artificially imposed by leaders for control. He noted that "whatsoever a man did was no crime".
King Lamoni believed the same type of thing (whatsoever they did was right) but this was an inherited tradition and they had no concept of a Redeemer (v. 24). The difference here is the difference between ignforance and rebellion.
The moment Ammon explains: God, Creation, Fall, Redemption (Atonement), Lamoni asks what he needs to do to have eternal life.
This illustrates that idea that people are judged by the light they receive, not the light that is withheld. Korihor knew better. This is a very generous theology where honest ignorance doesn't lead to condemnation (not what people were taught in 19th century America, in fact this is very heretical to 19th century American Protestantism).

v. 16 Is it because thou hast hear that I defended thy servants and thy flocks, and slew seven of their brethren with the sling and with the sword, and smote off the arms of others, in order to defend thy flocks and they servants; behold is this that causeth thy marvelings?
No Ammon, it's because he heard you were a really amazing piccolo player.

v. 23 And the king answered him, and said: Yea, I will believe al thy words. And thus he was caught with guile.
Guile
Guile is cunning deception - deceit + craftiness. It involves appearing sincere while hiding intent. Think of your smooth talker who has an angle, someone who wins trust to exploit it, intellgience used without integrity.
Wisdom = knowing how to act well
Prudence = knowing when to act
Guile = knowing how to deceive
