< ALMA 33 >
What is the most important thing you can accomplish in this life? The most important thing you can do is grow a tree.
Imagine, before you came to Earth, the Lord came up to you and said, "I have a special gift for you." "What is it Lord?" And God gives us a tiny seed. This is no ordinary seed, it is a seed to the tree of life, nourish it, grow it, and it will bring you eternal life.
Alma 33:1 - the Zoramites want to know how to plant the seed. They are poor, they may not feel as worthy as others, may not feel like they belong.
The Trunk of our tree (the tap root): Read Alma 33 - the message is that you are worthy of God's love, attention, and His mercy. Alma gives them reason after reason to believe this.
Alma 33
2: You can still worship God even if you got kicked out of their synagogues.
3-11: He hears your prayers, He is merciful - God has turned away His judgements because of His son Jesus Christ.
14: How can ye disbelieve if you read the scriptures.
16: God really wants us to believe and accept this key truth - that He is merciful.
19-21: All they needed to do was to look and live.
Repentance is not so much an act as it is a way of living.
The trunk of the tree / the tap root: That God turns away HIs judgement because of His Son.
Your burdens will become light, because you aren't carrying the weight of your sins, you wil have Joy because of God's Son. You and I are worthy of God's love, attention, and mercy.
Alma 34:32-33:
How can I prepare to meet you again? Grow the tree
Most important labor? Grow the tree
Prepare for eternity? Grow the tree
Improve my time in this life? Grow the tree
Don't procrastinate the growing - trees take time to grow, if you wait too long, you won't have time to grow the tree.
Grow the tree!
