Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail
One of my favorite parts about hiking is the chance to catch a killer view after you have worked your way up a mountain. On this hike, you can get killer views with very minimal effort. It's just a great stroll up a paved trail and then an afternoon of staring into the distance. I did lose my favorite hat on the hike, so if you find it, please let me know.

The Hike:
This is a very touristy and easy hike to do on a paved trail, but the views of the windward coast are stunning and fully worth it. From the parking lot, head up the paved trail as it climbs up the western side of the ridge. Once you gain the ridge, you will head North. If you see a hat in the bushes, it may be one of mine, or the hundreds of other hats that get blown off people's heads. It's windy up here, and sunny so hike prepared! You can't actually go to the lighthouse, which is a bit of a let down, but its a great photo and the views from the top make you forget that pretty quickly.
