Cardio doesn't have to be some intense suffer-fest. In reality, a brisk walk is a great way to get the benefits of cardio without the beat down of a run up the mountains. If you are pushing your cardio too hard every day, you will just burn out. Look to do more strenuous cardio 3 times per week and more recovery type sessions the other days of the week. Vary your cardio between different activities so that you don't put too much ware and tare on the same joints every day.
